Children from the West Tisbury School and First Light Child Development Center, and elderly at MV Center for Living (and Windermere Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center) are connected through a pen-pal program that includes letter writing, singing, art and photography.
Participants will have the opportunity to share their lives with their pen-pals, and to strengthen intergenerational relationships, which benefits not only those involved in the program, but those in their immediate environment also. Each participant will have a portrait photograph taken, printed, and given to their pen-pal to help personalize their new relationship. Photographs will then be taken on a regular basis, showing participants engaged in their own activities, to facilitate an ongoing relationship, providing a glimpse into their pen-pals daily lives.
Here are some of the participants so far, more photos are on their way so stay tuned!
